Her er vinderne af MTV VMA 2021 – GAFFA giver et overblik

MTV Video Music Awards 2021 blev afholdt i Barclays Center i Brooklyn, hvor hitmageren Doja Cat indtog rollen som vært på showet med de gyldne moonman-statuetter.

Aftenens største vinder var Lil Nas X, der vandt Årets video, Bedste direction og Bedste visuelle effekter for singlen ”Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”. Han tildelte statuetten for Årets video til ”the gay agenda”, der blandt andet refererer til den queer-positivitet, som også kan ses i hans nyeste singler.

Lil Nas X optrådte med singlerne ”Montero” og ”Industry Baby” sammen med rapperen Jack Harlow i en lyserød performance, der var inspireret af singlens musikvideo. Lil Nas X og hans dansere endte ud i intet andet end lyserøde, glitrende underbukser. Se den farverige optræden lige her.

Andre store vindere var popsensationen Olivia Rodrigo, der vandt Bedste nye artist og Årets sang for singlen ”Driver's License”. Billie Eilish vandt Video for Good med den feministiske ballade ”Your Power”. Foo Fighters gav en medley-optræden af hits som ”Everlong” og ”Learn to Fly”, hvorefter de vandt Globalt ikon-prisen og gav en rørende tale, som blandt andet hyldede den afdøde The Rolling Stones trommeslager Charlie Watts.

Justin Bieber vandt både Årets artist og Bedste pop for singlen ”Peaches”. Bieber gav også en optræden med sangeren og rapperen The Kid Laroi. Sammen sang de deres hitsingle ”Stay”. The Kid Laroi har netop offentliggjort sin verdensturné, hvor han blandt andet gæster Danmark.
